Florida's Newest medical doctorate school (and Broward's first) gets academic green light.10/18/2017 DICTION: The authors maintains a formal diction throughout the article. RHETORICAL DEVICES: Logos- "classes will begin in August 2018" and "NSU will accept 50 students in the first year" show that the article is credible since it tells the reader when the classes will begin and how many students will be able to attend. Ethos- Having the author's name and email at the top of the article, as well as the date and time it was published, allows the reader to trust the source and the information since they can see who the author is and if the information in the article isn't outdated or invalid. Pathos- "'The community doesn't know the caliber of doctors we're going to make. They're going to be wonderful'". This encourages students to apply to this school because it almost guarantees them that they're going to get a good education and that they'll will succeed in their career if they go to NSU. TONE: Didactic- The author is just explaining to the reader what the program has to offer and how it will work. Objective- The author doesn't include his opinions on the school; he just explains the information about the program in the article. PURPOSE: Nova Southeastern University is trying to give details about its new medical program that's different from other schools and they want students to apply and let them know a little bit about what the school is looking for, such as leadership skills. The school wants the best of the best students in its program so they can be a good school with a good, strong medical program so students can become the best doctors out there.
